SUBANG JAYA: To commemorate the Ramadan month, six mosques and 16 surau recently received a financial boost from Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh.

Yeoh said the mosques and surau, which are registered with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, received RM2,000 and RM1,000 each respectively.

She presented the cheques to the representatives at Masjid Darul Ehsan in SS15.

The allocation, she said, was through the Selangor state government which aimed at lessening the financial burden of the mosques and surau in funding its religious activities and programmes during the holy month.

Surau Al-Huda secretary Azli Azmin said this was the fourth year they have received the contributions.

"The fund will go towards our religious activities, especially to cover the allowance for our visiting imam to our surau in SS13 who leads the  daily tarawih prayers during Ramadan."

Among the mosques that received the contributions were Masjid Darul Ehsan, Abu Bakar Assidiq, Al-Mukminun, Al-Falah, An-Nur and Al-Irsyad.

The surau  included Al-Huda, Al-Hikmah, Al-Taqwa, Al-Ikhlas and Al-Bukhary, to name a few.
