KUALA LUMPUR: The recent SportsUnite-Maggi Mother's Day Family Bowling Carnival was a huge success with 48 families celebrating at the Sunway Mega Lanes, Sunway Pyramid.
Jointly organised by SportsUnite and Maggi with co-sponsorship by Sunway Mega Lanes, response was so good that all 48 lanes were occupied with six families unable to participate but they joined in the fun nevertheless.
The carnival started with a symbolic cake cutting by mothers and presentation of single roses to all mothers present.
A surprise performance by Malaysia's Michael Jackson impersonator S. Surendran before the roll off got all families excited. Each team comprised three bowlers -- father, mother and child below 18 years or a parent and two children below 18.
Each member bowled three games with the combined scores with handicaps deciding the winners. Of the 48 families, 42 were powered by their mothers.
The top five families won cash prizes ranging from RM300 to RM1,000, winners medals and Maggi hampers.
The sixth to 10th placed teams also received medals and hampers.
Eight special high game prizes of medals and Maggi hampers were won in the boys and girls Under-12, Under-15, Under-18, mothers and fathers categories.
SportsUnite Sports Club chairman Datuk Dina Rizal said the carnival was a tribute to all mothers.
"Maggi, SportsUnite and Sunway Mega Lanes pay tribute to all mothers for their sacrifices, love, guidance and compassion given to us which have brought immense joy and happiness in our lives," said Dina.
