AUTHENTIC:The cuisine’s unique flavours will make for a delightful meal on Mothers Day
THIS year, Utara Coffee House in Armada Petaling Jaya is bringing Peranakan-themed cuisine specially for Mothers Day.
Peranakan (or Nyonya) cuisine combines both Chinese and Malay influences.
The unique flavours of Peranakan cuisine focuses in blending a variety of herbs and spices to create the rempah that gives the tangy, aromatic and spicy flavours to its dishes.
Treat Mum to authentic Peranakan favourites like Otak-otak, Nyonya Chap Chai (mixed vegetables), Ayam Pong Teh (stewed chicken), Kiam Chye Ark (salted vegetable duck soup), Jui Hu Char (fried cuttlefish), Loh Bak, Ayam Buah Keluak and Sambal Petai Udang, to name a few.
Nyonya food lovers are in for a further treat as the sweet desserts and savory snacks include Kueh Kochi, Sago Gula Melaka, Kueh Onde-onde, Pulut Tekan with Kaya, Kueh Seri Muka, Ang Koo Kueh, Pasembor and Pulut Tai Tai for their indulgence.
Also being featured at the buffet counter are local and international favourites including roasted leg of lamb, seafood Pescatore, salmon teppanyaki, sashimi, calamari fritters, shark fin soup and assorted satays among many more.
Also planned for the day are exciting games and activities that will definitely thrill all mothers as they stand a chance to win exciting prizes.

The buffet high-tea is priced at RM75++ per adult and RM37.50++ for domestic helper and children below 7 years old, while the buffet dinner is priced at RM70++ per adult and RM35++ for domestic helper and children below 7 years old.
Mothers get to dine for free (subject to two mothers per group of 10). The first 10 mothers also get to have free caricature drawings.
