NILAI: The police are investigating allegations that some foreigners had formed a gang to demand protection money from traders at the Nilai 3 Wholesale Centre, here.

Nilai police chief Superintendent Mohd Yusoff Awang said no traders have come forward to file reports on the matter.

"However, we have a team looking into the allegations.

"We will gather information and carry out a surveillance before we strike," he said.

Streets had recently reported that foreigners had not only monopolised the wholesale centre, but had also formed a gang demanding protection money.

It was learnt that the gang demanded about RM100 from each trader each month to ensure that his business was not disturbed.

Yusoff urged traders with information on the matter to call him at 06-799 1222. He assured them that all information would be kept confidential.
