RACE:Once again the sponsored event will donate its registration fees to charity
BANK Simpanan Nasional (BSN) recently announced its sponsorship of the BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon 2012 (BSNPNM 2012).
Last year's event in Putrajaya attracted some 10, 000 runners.
In line with its new tagline, Pushing Boundaries, Breaking Limits, the annual marathon on Oct 20 is expected to be even better.
Registration for the marathon will begin by end of this month.
A launch of the awareness campaign for BSNPNM 2012 was held at The Westin, Kuala Lumpur, recently.
Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek launched the event.
Also present were BSN chief executive Datuk Adinan Maning, Putrajaya Corporation Town Services director Datuk Abd Ghani Ahmad, and Twenty First Century Sports (M) Sdn Bhd director Nithiaseelan Vegayathunam.
Said Adinan: "We hope this event will also serve as a platform for BSN and its corporate partners to raise funds for those in need as part of their corporate social responsibility."
Other sponsors include Perbadanan Putrajaya, Brooks, 100 Plus, Power Bar and Pullman Putrajaya.
The marathon has three categories (42km, 21km and 10km), as well as a 10km Corporate/CSR run and a 5km Fun Run.
Registration fees collected from corporate organisations which run as a team in the Corporate Team category will go towards the beneficiaries, the Women's Aid Organisation and Persatuan Glaukoma Malaysia.
Last year more than RM100, 000 was raised and donated to the National Cancer Society.
At the launch, the winner of the BSNPNM 2012 tagline contest, Sze Jun King, was announced.
This entitled Sze to participate in any BSNPNM 2012 category, a cash voucher of RM500 from Brooks, and BSN's Sijil Simpanan Premium worth RM500.
To get the runners connected, the blog bsnputrajayanightmarathon.blogspot.com was created by the organiser.
