EXPRESS SERVICE:India’s national hockey team travel aboard KTMB’s electric trains or the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2012

INSTEAD of an airplane, India's national hockey team boarded Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd  (KTMB)'s  electric train to Ipoh for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2012 recently.

For KTMB, this is the second year it has transported players for the tournament.

Last year, teams from Great Britain, India and New Zealand used the Electric Train Service (ETS) for the two-hour journey to Ipoh.

The electric trains were unable to accommodate all the competing teams as their different flight schedules did not match those of the ETS.

"KTMB is proud to be a sponsor for this  sporting event.

"The ETS is quite new, so this is a great way to introduce and promote the service to tourists," said ETS chief operating officer, Tariq Umar.

The Indian team arrived in Kuala Lumpur earlier that day and were seen enjoying the comforts of the ETS's guest lounge.

"We travelled using the ETS last year, and found the train coaches to be very comfortable.

"The players were not at all tired by the journey," said the team's head coach, Michael Nobbs.

To show its support for the hockey tournament, ETS is giving away 30 complimentary return tickets in lucky draws during the duration of the tournament.

The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2012 will be held at Stadium Hoki Sultan Azlan Shah in Perak from today until June 3.

Hockey fans who would like to win train tickets to catch the games can call 03-2263 1105 to enquire about the lucky draws.
