"We are proud to see the young athletes, who had participated in MUDS, join international duathlon tournaments and show top-quality performances," he said.

The tournament was first held in 2003. He said Malakoff also aimed to encourage student athletes to step up to the challenge of duathlons and grow the number of duathletes in the country.

"We invite students from non-host universities to join MUDS, too."

He said there were a plan to make the event nationwide for all universities in Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak.

The entry fee in the university category is RM30 to join one race or RM75 to join all three races. The fee is RM60 per race and RM150 for three races in the open categories, and RM90 per race and RM240 for three races in the relay category.
