    Residents take to the streets for clean-up

    SUBANG JAYA: Residents of SS15/2 in Subang Jaya recently held a gotong-royong exercise to beautify their neighbourhood.

      More than 200 residents took part in the annual programme, together with officers from the Subang Jaya police force and the Subang Jaya City Council (MPSJ).

         SS15/2 Rukun Tetangga chairman Borhan Rahmat praised the residents for their support and commitment in keeping their neighbourhood clean.

      "We are very happy with the turnout of residents and the support from the police and MPSJ.  The annual gotong-royong programme has grown and we hope to see more residents participating in our programmes," he said.

      Borhan said that the RT has been active in supporting various programmes organised by the city council.

      Borhan also praised Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh for her contributions to the RT programme.

      "Yeoh has provided the RT with walkie-talkies and bicycles for our patrols around the neighbourhood. We would like to thank  Yeoh for her  support," he said.

       Subang Jaya SS17 OCS Chief Inspector Sulaiman Baputty said that incidences of  crime  in area have declined  since 2010.

      "Yeoh  donated a police beat base and we have stationed two personnel there to patrol the area. The snatch theft cases in the area have dropped significantly. There used to be quite frequent snatch thefts and now there is  hardly any crime here," he said.

        Sulaiman also advised those who frequent the SS15 mosque to lock their cars when they go for prayers. He said that recently there have been a spate of car break-ins at  the mosque.

        Yeoh who officiated the gotong-royong programme praised the RT for its commitment in keeping their neighbourhood safe and clean.

      "We are pleased to see the residents coming together to keep their neighbourhood clean. I will also pledge RM3,000 for the RT's annual activities," she said.
