PETALING JAYA: Party for charity at Retro Sunsplash 3 at The Boulevard, 3 Two Square, here, on Sunday.

Retro Sunsplash is an event that brings the music of yesteryears to the people.

Admission is free, and party-goers can put their contributions in donation boxes placed in the venue.

There will also be a lucky draw with great prizes to be won. Lucky draw tickets are sold at RM10 apiece. The event featuring eight DJs will start at 4pm and end at approximately 2am.

The target is 1,000 people and RM20,000 in cash contributions.

The donations will go to Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya Kirtarsh, a non-political, non-religious, non-racial and non-profitable organisation established to look into the needs of special children.

There are currently 50 children and some senior citizens in its care.

Retro Sunsplash was conceived and created by two men grown weary of today's state of dance music, which they felt had become repetitive and monotonous.

Veteran DJs Francis Koh and Jay Subramaniam decided to bring the quality music of the past, which they found a scarcity these days, to patrons who craved it.

"With the marriage between quality retrospective entertainment and charity, Retro Sunsplash was born, " said Koh.

The inaugural Retro Sunsplash was held in March last year in 3 Two Square featuring 10 famous DJs.

It attracted more than 300 people and amassed a total of RM7,000 from donations.

The venue, equipment and talent fees, the value of which was an estimated RM21,000, were sponsored.

Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah was the beneficiary of the first Retro Sunsplash.
