SAVING LIVES:The Jalan Brunei 3 Rukun Tetangga off Jalan Pudu is calling for donors

THE Jalan Brunei 3 Rukun Tetangga off Jalan Pudu is inviting the public to join them in a blood donation drive today.

The blood donation, to be held outside the Rukun Tetangga hall, will start at 10pm and end at 4pm.

Jalan Brunei 3 Rukun Tetangga chairman Huee Teng Hing, 63, hopes that  residents from the surrounding neighbourhoods will  donate blood.

He said the Rukun Tetangga has been organising the drive for the past 30 years.

"We are looking forward to having a large crowd  in the programme. We hope to see members of the public and our neighbours and friends turn up at the programme," he said.

Barisan Nasional Bukit Bintang parliamentary secretary Frankie Gan Joon Zin, who will be participating in the programme, urged the public to donate blood.

He said  MCA will also be organising a campaign to give free insurance to the eligible public at the event.

"The 1MCA insurance scheme is only open to MCA members. Those who are not MCA members must register as a member if they want to participate in the insurance scheme," he said.

Gan said the insurance scheme is free, and members who sign up will be entitled to a RM10,000 personal accident coverage.

The coverage will also include RM4,000 for funeral expenses.
