PETALING JAYA: Registration for Feel Good Run 2012 is now officially closed. The charity event achieved its targeted number of 5,000 participants within just four weeks after registration opened on March 21.

This broke last year's record time, as this year's original closing date was June 1.

"We are pleased by the extraordinary support we've received from the public and hope to continue the momentum of excitement in the coming months leading up to the event day on July 8," said Airin Zainul, group general manager of ntv7 and 8TV

"We would like to thank all parties who supported and contributed to this run, and for those who missed this year, be sure to join us in 2013."

Proceeds from the run will be channeled equally to four participating beneficiaries, namely Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation, Pure Life Society, PAWS Animal Welfare Society Malaysia, and Yayasan Chow Kit.

Meanwhile, the event organisers are apologising for having to forego the plan for pet lovers to run with their pets at Sri Pentas, Bandar Utama.

Following advice and feedback from various parties, the committee has put on hold the plan to avoid any unpleasant incidents.

"We have learned from other runs that safety comes first above all else. Our team needs more preparation to be fully equipped for this, a new avenue for us," said Airin.
