KUALA LUMPUR: The Saddle Coffeehouse brings village atmosphere closer to the heart of town with its richly flavoured buffet spread this Ramadan.

    The buffet ends today.

Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort operations senior manager Hisham Razali said the resort is pleased to  welcome everyone for its 'Ala Kampung' buka puasa menu.

Banquet chef Hasnol Talib said the restaurant introduced two new dishes this year -- lamb chunks  gulai kawah and sotong kangkung.

"Thirty workers  prepare over 100 dishes daily," he said.

Among the dishes from the chef's kitchen are  sambal udang petai,  siput sedut masak lemak, ayam masak merah, ayam percik  and rendang tok.

Hisham said freshly grated coconut milk is used instead of instant coconut milk powder to ensure freshness in dishes requiring santan.

There are local fruits and dates for Muslims to break their fast and thirst quenchers such as air jagung,  air bandung, cincau, air mata kucing, cendol,  ais kacang and hot beverages.

For desserts, the spread includes traditional local kuih such as cucur badak, seri muka, kuih lapis and coconut filled rolled crepe kuih ketayap. Malay cuisine is incomplete without kerabu, and ulam. Some of the more unusual greens offered by the restaurant are ulam raja, and mango shoots.

For those who prefer seafood, there are various types of grilled fish such as stingray and catfish, which will leave the patrons wanting more, especially when taken with air asam.

Besides local cuisine, there is also sushi, and pasta for those who prefer non-spicy food.

The buffet is priced at RM68 per per adult for non-members, RM63 (member) and RM39 (children).

Prayer area is available in the resort which has ample parking space.
