    Sharing Kajang with the Malaysian public

    KAJANG: The grand prize winner in the open category of the "Stories of Kajang" photography competition says there is a lot about his hometown to share with the public.

    "I was surprised by the win as photography is just a leisure activity for me," said Chew Lu Hui, 38, who walked away with RM2,000.

    He took his photographs near Yu Hua school and a  senior citizens home near Jalan Sungai Chua.

    Chew's friends and family members had tagged along to take pictures with him at the prize-giving ceremony  at Metro Point Complex, here.

    The second prize of  RM1,500 went to Chen Yeng Chew.

    Yap Chee Hong won the third prize of RM700.

    There were  60 qualified participants in the open category.

    Ng Kah Weng  came first in the  students below 22 category. He received RM1,000.   

    Ng took photographs of a family resting by a garden tub, durian stall and  brick-walled coffee shop which was built in 1929.

    The second prize of RM700 went to Ng Kah Hao.  The third prize of RM500 was won by Sia Zock Kee.

    There were 27 qualified entries in the students below 22 category.

    The  competition was organised by the Hulu Langat Chinese Industry and Commerce Association.

    The ceremony was officiated by  association president Datuk Alex Chen Kooi Chiew, Kajang Municipal Council president Datuk Hasan Nawawi Abd Rahman and Kajang  assemblyman Lee Kim Sin.

    Chen said the association wanted to give photography enthusiasts the chance to have their work  judged by professionals and learn to take better pictures.   The competition was held from March 26 to April 26.
