FOREIGN:The road was named after a city in Iran

JALAN Esfahan near the Sogo Shopping Complex is the shortest road in Kuala Lumpur.

In 1993, the road was built and called Jalan Selat.

It was named after the Straits of Malacca.

On the same year, Kuala Lumpur and  Esfahan, a city in Iran,  signed a twin city Memorandum of Understanding.

Five years later in March 30, the road was renamed as Jalan Esfahan.

Present at the renaming ceremony was Esfahan governor-general Jafar Mousavi and mayor Mohammad Ali, as well as former Kuala Lumpur mayor Tan Sri Kamaruzzaman Shariff.

The road connects Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman with Jalan Raja Laut.  It is also located within walking distance to the Bandaraya LRT station.
