PETALING JAYA: About 600 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) recipients in Sungai Way have yet to collect their vouchers from the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).

MCA Selangor Public Complaints Bureau deputy head Kelvin Chong Seng Foo urged them to claim the vouchers at their nearest IRB branch before the deadline, which had already been extended,  ends on Sunday.

He was speaking at the "Jom Makan Durian" event at the Sungai Way community hall.

"This gathering gives us the opportunity to get to know the community ad their needs. We look forward to holding more such programmes," he said.

Local residents had brought up the issues of clogged drains and uncollected rubbish.

The feast of 300 durian, accompanied by rambutan was sponsored by Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) and non-government organisations.

A 63-year-old resident, who introduced himself as Tan, said he had been craving for the King of Fruits.

"This is just like the good old times when everyone joins in for a feast," he said.
