SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan police have launched an investigation into a report lodged by a teenage suspect that he was beaten by a policeman while under remand from Feb 27 to yesterday.

State police chief Datuk Osman Salleh said today the 13-year-old boy lodged the report yesterday with his father, claiming that he was beaten by a policeman while in a lockup at the Sri Jempol police station.

"A recorded statement reveals that he was beaten with a rubber hose on the head which resulted in injury to an eye," he told a news conference at the state police headquarters here.

Osman said the boy was arrested at his home in Ladang St Helier, Bahau, on Feb 26 and remanded for five days from Feb 27 until yesterday to help in the probe into a theft case. - Bernama
