PETALING JAYA: Despite facing delays in getting its land title, the ground-breaking ceremony for the Mother of Dragon (Lung Mu) Temple Malaysia will be held on Sunday.
Federation of Kwong Siew Associations Malaysia president, Ho Sai Chong, said they are hoping to receive the land title within the next month or two.
"It has been delayed, but we are confident that we will receive it," he said. "Once we get it, we will submit the building plans which are ready."
The temple, located along Jalan PJU 8/8 in Damansara Perdana, is owned by the federation.
It has been reported that the committee members had claimed that the 0.3 ha land was gazetted for by the state government in 2005 and approved by the Land Office in 2008 for use as a place of worship.
Committee members also questioned the state government over the delay in giving them the land title. One of the members, Datuk Dr Wong Sai Hou, said that the temple land was one of the three pieces of land allocated by MK Land for non-Muslim places of worship.
"Now that Mammoth Empire group has bought over this area, we are having problems. Even representatives from the developer and state government met us and offered us a different piece of land, but we do not want that," he said, adding that the refusal of the state government to issue the land title was not right as the land was bought by the federation for the purpose of building a temple.
The temple will be also be celebrating the 2,223rd year of the birth of the goddess of Lung Mu, and delegates from 20 countries are expected to attend.
