KUALA LUMPUR: One thousand packs of bubur lambuk were distributed to the public by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts called Rempit United, in Kampung Baru, recently.

The club made the effort in the Ramadan spirit of giving. The members also wanted to establish a good relationship with the community in general.

Club president Wazi Abdul Hamid said the activity was also part of its efforts to put the  "Rempit", who is associated with illegal street racing, in a positive light with the public.

He said the club would distribute a total of 50,000 packs of bubur lambuk  sponsored by corporate bodies in several states throughout the week.

"We also plan to have our members, which number over 200,000, to visit hospitals and orphanages to spread festive cheer," said Wazi.

Celebrities Adi Putra and Sari Yanti were present to help give away the packs of bubur lambuk prepared by Pak Hassan restaurant in Kampung Baru.
