NOBLE:Over 500 disadvantaged people receive ‘duit raya’ and goodies

OVER 500 needy  people around Bandar Tun Razak recently received duit raya from Bandar Tun Razak Umno.

Most of the recipients were single mothers, disabled people, orphans and senior citizens.

Bandar Tun Razak Umno deputy head Azami Mohamad,  secretary Datuk Mokhtar Samad, Federal Territory Umno Youth chief Datuk Rizalman Mokhtar and  Federal Territory MCA Youth chairman Senator Chiew Lian Keng were on hand  to distribute duit raya to the recipients.

Azami said the total amount of this year's contribution was about RM80,000.

"We also gave items worth RM500 and RM300 respectively to the 10 mosques and 63 surau around the area," said Azami.

Disabled recipient, Hashim Baharom, 40, was glad to receive the aid.

"The money will help lessen my burden for the upcoming  Hari Raya celebrations," he said.

Another disabled person, single mother, Hasmah Awang, 61, was grateful that her neighbour at Flat Sri Pulau Pinang had recommended her as an aid recipient  to the mosque committee.

"I am thankful that there are people who are willing to help the less fortunate like me," said Hasmah.

At the same event, Mokhtar gave a personal contribution to the family of the late Bandar Tun Razak Youth Exco Razali Mohd Isa who died of cancer last year.

His widow Tengku Sarirah Tengku Abdul Rahim and three daughters received RM5,000.
