FLIMSY: Men claiming to be cops accused Kepong Baru Tambahan resident of being a football bookie

A VISIT in the wee hours of the morning by men claiming to be from the police force has given sleepless nights to a Kepong Baru Tambahan resident.

Kepong community service centre head  Yee Poh Ping said  the situation was very worrying as there had been many cases of police impersonation.

"What if the men were robbers or rapists? How are normal citizens to recognise the imposters from the real police?" he questioned.

"The least the police could do is send at least one patrol car or one man dressed in uniform to assure the citizens that they are indeed the police," Yee said.

He added that now Pung and his family is afraid that the men claiming to be the police may have installed some kind of software that can detect their personal and banking information.

Yee urged the police to come up with a procedure to assure the public of the police's identity before conducting a raid.
