PORT DICKSON: The Negri Sembilan National Security Council (NSC) recently organised a Disaster Awareness Programme to ensure all its personnel are prepared and ready in the face of any emergency.

About 200 participants attended the programme held jointly with the Port Dickson Municipal Council.

The participants included civil servants, Village Security and Development Committee members, Rukun Tetangga,  non-governmental organisations, hotel staff and those from the private sector and educational institutions.

State NSC assistant secretary Lt-Col Mohd Hanafiah Mohd Ramli said the  programme was held in every district to help enhance awareness  on the need to be prepared to face any  disaster.

"We need the help and co-operation from all, including government agencies, community leaders, the private sector and NGOs.

"We have a 18km stretch of beach and an oil refinery here which makes this district a potential for  accidents," he said.

The closing ceremony was  witnessed by State Exco for Health, Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Ismail Taib. Also present was district officer Ab Khalid Mat.
