OVERJOYED: Kg Pasir Baru villagers receive Form 5A, paving way for the issuance of land grants to them
PASIR GUDANG: THE 30-year wait for the residents of Kampung Pasir Baru, Pasir Gudang, to have their own land is finally over after they received Form 5A from the state government.
Seventy-five villagers received their forms which would enable them to pay the land premiums for the ownership of the land measuring about 12ha in total. Another 16 villagers will receive their forms once they have settled their land inheritance issues.
The forms were presented by Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and Pasir Gudang member of Parliament Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin at Kampung Pasir, Pasir Gudang Baru, recently.
Hasnah Daud, 64, was overjoyed when she received the form but could not hide her tears that she could not share her joy with her late husband.
"My husband Mohd Arip Dogol died two years ago. Now I live with my children. I am grateful to the state government for enabling us to own the land," she said.
Ishak Bakar, 61, said this not only ended the residents' wait for ownership of the land but also put an end to the questions regarding the land's status.
"When we move to the area in 1974, it was still a jungle," said Ishak.
Abdul Ghani said the presentation of the form reflected the state government's concern for the people's welfare.
"The villagers' request for the premiums to be paid in four installments and to reduce the amount of premiums will be considered because I have to discuss it with the relevant parties.
"After receiving the forms, the villagers have three months to pay the premiums. If they want to get the land grant quickly, they can pay the premiums now.
"But if they want the premiums reduced or change the payment method, then they have to wait for it to be considered," said Abdul Ghani.
