KULAIJAYA: About 300 football enthusiasts took part in the Football Community Programme, which is the brainchild of Johor Tunku Mahkota, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
The event was held at SK Bandar Putra here recently.
Participants played against the state football team as well as the national football development team, Mykid Soccer.
Several teams from Kulaijaya and Johor Baru also took part in the friendly matches.
Some of the spectators, especially primary schools pupils took the opportunity to get up close with the state players.
Tunku Ismail, who is also Johor Football Association president, donated cash to players of the Johor Mykid Soccer which is based at SK Bandar Putra.
Johor youth chief, A Mustaffa Ab Rahman, said the community programme was a good way to expose those aged between 7 and 12 to the real world of football.
"The programme can create interest in children to play competitive football before they go on to higher levels," said Mustaffa.
"For the Mykid Soccer programme, it will assist the Football Association of Malaysia to prepare teams for those under-17 and under-19 to take part in the World Youth Cup 2019," he said.
