Both centres are jointly managed by MAA MediCare Kidney Charity Fund (MediCare) and Johor Baru Lions Club.

The members were from seven Lions Clubs -- that of Johor Baru Metro,  Johor Baru Tanjung Petrie,  Johor Baru Mandarin, Kota Tinggi,  Taman Pelangi Indah, Permas Jaya and Masai.

Each patient received eight mandarin oranges and ang pow worth RM50 during the two-day visit.

Leo Club members of SMK Sultanah Engku Tun Aminah also accompanied the Lions members.

Leo Club advisor Beryl Kua, who is also the council member of JB Lions  Renal Care Foundation, said programmes such as this would help inculcate in youths the spirit of caring for others.

"This will benefit  children who come from well-off families.

"Visits to dialysis centres and old folks homes, for example, are encouraged as this would  help the younger generation not to be self-absorbed," said Kua.
