Contractors doing shoddy work

JOHOR BARU: Felda Tenggaroh 1 settlers here in Mersing want Felda to take action against their appointed contractors who have been doing shoddy work harvesting their oil palm plantations.

The settlers claimed that the contractors appointed by Felda to pluck their fruits, fertilise and maintain  their plantation,  had not been doing a good job.

Felda Tenggaroh 1 representative Abd Karim Taib said the settlers found that the fruits were not picked and many were left to rot.

"The grass has  not been trimmed and the fertilisers were not put around the tree but on the overgrown grass.

"We are very unhappy with the work of the appointed contractors," he said, adding that most settlers had voiced  their disappointment to him.

"When the contractors did a bad job, it was heart-breaking to see the oil palm fruits left to rot," he said.

They urged the Felda management to immediately take action and ensure that responsible contractors are appointed in the future, and not just those who wanted to make a fast buck.
