Interfaith prayer for AIDS victims

JOHOR BARU: The faithful and clergy of different religions here recently gathered to hold an interfaith prayer and candlelight vigil for those who died of AIDS.

About 100 religious leaders, lay people and social workers  took part in the prayers at the Cathedral of Sacred Heart in Taman Sri Tebrau here.

There was a personal sharing experience by people living with HIV and AIDS.

This was followed by the inter-religious prayers by Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Taoists, Bahais and also the general intercessory prayers before the candle lighting ceremony.

A song dedicated to those who have died of AIDS was sung by Sr Theresa Chay, followed by a minute of silence.

The annual interfaith  memorial programme here was organised in conjunction with the 28th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial Day.
