JOHOR BARU: Rotary International and Rotary District 3310 recently welcomed the latest addition to its big family.

The Rotary Club of Johor Baru Sentral,  chartered two months ago, recently became a part of the 34,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide.

In Johor and Johor Baru, the club was the 16th and eighth respectively.  The oldest club in Johor Baru is the Rotary Club of Johor Baru which was formed in 1952.

About 80 Rotarians got together recently for the club's charter and installation dinner at the Grand Bluewave Hotel here.

Charter president Bella Khor, district governor 2011-2012 Zainie Abdul Aucasa and his wife Kalimah Ekwan were among those present.

"It is always a happy occasion when another Rotary club is formed as it will mean more volunteers will be available for service to the community.

"With more clubs and new members, we can strengthen the Rotary Movement in Johor," Zainie said in his speech.
