JOHOR BARU: His love for antique and vintage items was what inspired Abdul Rahman Auff, 48, to start the Ampire Antique and Classic shop in Jalan Dhoby here.

The shop, which operates from 10am to 9pm daily, except on Sundays, attracts locals as well as tourists.

"Most of the items in my shop are from my collection which I have acquired from my travels to Indonesia, Turkey, Italy, Germany, China and throughout Malaysia," he  said.

He claimed some of the oldest items in the shop are more than 400 years old.

"The sewing machine is about 70 years old and many of the telephones, lamps and musical equipment are also antiques.

"The  items are priced from RM25 to RM4,500," he said.

Rahman said his wife, Masriah Hamdan, 47, shares his passion and is supportive of his trade.

"I plan to expand the business someday," he added.
