JOHOR BARU:Johor Baru City Square is set to dazzle its customers by turning the mall's atrium into a traditional Chinese opera house as part of the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.
Hundreds of peony flowers will be displayed around the stage area. These flowers are much sought after during the Lunar New Year, as its pronunciation in Chinese means "riches and honour".
The flower also symbolises feminine beauty, love and affection. Red peonies are popular, as the colour is associated with good luck. Hence, many decorate their homes with them.
The stage is also decorated with red lanterns and Chinese calligraphy.
Meanwhile, the mall's concourse has been stocked with everything needed to celebrate the festival.
These include cookies, hampers, barbecued meats and ornaments.
The mall will also sponsor its first-ever Chinese opera and Peking opera dance performance by children.
Other activities the mall has lined up for its shoppers include traditional Chinese dances, orchestral music and drums performances.
