Mall's Chinese opera house for CNY season

JOHOR BARU:Johor Baru City Square is set to dazzle its customers by turning the mall's atrium into a traditional Chinese opera house as part of the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.

Drum performances are among the shows lined up at Johor Baru City Square.

  Hundreds of  peony flowers will be displayed around the stage area. These flowers are much sought after during the Lunar New Year, as its pronunciation in Chinese means "riches and honour".

  The flower also symbolises  feminine beauty, love and affection. Red peonies are  popular, as the colour  is associated with good luck. Hence, many decorate their homes with them.

  The stage is also decorated with red lanterns and Chinese calligraphy.

   Meanwhile, the mall's concourse  has been stocked with everything needed to celebrate the festival.

   These include cookies, hampers, barbecued meats and ornaments.

   The mall will also sponsor its first-ever Chinese opera and Peking opera dance performance by children.

   Other activities the mall has  lined up for its shoppers include  traditional Chinese dances, orchestral music and drums performances.

   JB City Square is also hosting  lion dance performances by lion dance world champion Kun Seng Keng Troupe.

  Also, the mall  is giving away  ang pow packets with every RM118 (combined receipts allowed ) spent at any outlet operating in the mall while stocks last. There is also a lucky draw with every RM88 spent in  a single receipt.
