NATURAL ATTRACTION: Thanks to its rich flora and fauna, the Tanjung Ketapang mangrove forest is a hit with local and foreign tourists

THE Tanjung Ketapang mangrove forest, here, is a hit with local and foreign  tourists,  thanks to its rich flora and fauna.

Following intensive conservation work, the forest has been turned into a recreational park.

A jetty is being built to give  visitors  a spectacular view of the Muar beach.

Mohd Shah Md Zain, 33, of Selangor, said the park was suitable for family activities and should be promoted as an international tourist destination.

"This place is beautiful. Johor is rich with natural attractions such as this. I hope the park will be retained and not developed.

Another visitor, Aminah Kassim, 43, said the construction of the jetty would  promote the park as a mangrove area.

"I was told that you can get a good view of the mangrove forest from the jetty. I  hope  visitors will also play a role in keeping the park clean," she said.JAMALUDIN HUSIN
