JOHOR BARU: Maybank recently organised a fun-filled event to create awareness of its digital banking service, Maybank2u, at the Aeon Bukit Indah Shopping Centre here.

Maybank head of virtual banking, Abdul Razak Mohd Nordin, said Maybank2u was the country's first online banking service which has evolved to include mobile and various other application platforms.

"We are proud to say that we are truly a digital bank, being the first to introduce Internet banking in June 2000," he said.

"Since then, we have come a long way.  Now Maybank2u users can pay bills or check their balances on their mobile phones, whether they are in the country or overseas."

Razak added that Maybank2u has more than 700 merchant partners and, as a leader in the country's digital banking industry, it has constantly stayed in step with the market demand.

Among the highlights of this event was a Big Drop surprise where 500 gift vouchers were put into balloons.  When the balloons were released from the net, shoppers were seen making a grab for the balloons.  The prizes included GSC movie vouchers, MPH gift vouchers, KFC vouchers as well as the grand prize voucher for a Samsung Galaxy Tab.

"This was also our way of rewarding Maybank2u users for their loyalty and confidence in our service," said Razak.

A colouring contest for children was also organised in conjunction with the event.  A total of 53 children signed up for the contest which was divided into two categories, for children aged 5 to 8 years and those aged 9 to 12 years.

The event also featured several other game stations designed for the children.
