    SAFETY: Residents of Taman Seri Damai will also hire security guards to man the entrances leading to the neighbourhood

      KLUANG:  IN an effort to promote better security in  Taman Seri Damai, residents  recently formed a crime prevention squad which comprising heads of household and  local youths.

        Taman Seri Damai action committee chairman Faizal Wong Abdullah said  the setting up of the squad was to combat crime in the neighbourhood, while waiting for  the establishment of the Rukun Tetangga and Voluntary Patrolling Scheme.

      "The squad will  patrol from 1am to 5am as crime mostly occurs during those hours," he said.

      Faizal added that the residents will also hire security guards to man the entrances leading to the neighbourhood which has more than 40 homes.

      "We will make sure all visitors take their visit passes before they  can enter the neighbourhood," he said.

      Kluang municipal councilor Sim Geok Ming, who visited the area, assured residents he would bring up the issue of the neighbourhood's security   with the authorities.
