    HIGH ACHIEVER: Developer runs education programme which motivates students to strive for academic excellence

      UEM Land Holdings Bhd, the master developer of Nusajaya and key driver of Iskandar Malaysia, recently celebrated the success of 63 students from its Pintar (Promoting Intelligence, Nurturing Talent and Advocating Responsibility) schools who achieved excellent results in the 2011 Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), Peniliaian Menengah Rendah (PMR), and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.

        This yearly event started in  2009 under UEM Land's academic excellence programme, which is aimed at recognising the effort and determination of the students.

      It is hoped that the awards will motivate students to strive harder.

      The ceremony also acknowledges the vital roles of teachers and parents in their  efforts to bring out the best in the students.   

      The overall results for last year were recorded and compared with the results for 2010.

      For the UPSR results, it showed an increase of 2.13 per cent in the overall achievement.

      For the PMR results, last year showed a significant leap in the overall results with 30.7 per cent students scoring 8As, 7As and 6As compared with a 26 per cent increase in 2010.

      For the SPM results, one student from SMK Gelang Patah obtained 11As and  another scored 10As.  Each of the UPSR, PMR and SPM high achiever was awarded  cash prizes, while the best overall student for each of the examinations received a laptop.

     UEM Land senior general manager cum project director of Nusajaya Mohd Azmil Abd Shukor said it was an honour to celebrate the achievements of the exemplary students.

      "We are eager to continuously review and improve our Pintar programmes to help the community grow in sync with the developments in Nusajaya.

      "We are grateful to all parties, particularly the Johor state Education Department (JPNJ), Johor Baru District Education Department (PPDJB), teachers and parents for their support and commitment in ensuring our Pintar programme is a success," he added.

      The 63 high achievers from 17   Pintar schools in Gelang Patah receive cash rewards and certificates by Azmil at a ceremony at Theatrette Hall, Bangunan Dato Jaafar Muhammad, Kota Iskandar, Nusajaya recently.

      Also present were Johor Education Department director Mohd Nor A. Ghani, parents, school principals, teachers, and other representatives of the Johor Education Department, Johor Baru District Education Office and UEM Land.
