SPRUCE-UP: Eighty artistes take part in gotong-royong at village mosque

IPOH: EIGHTY  artistes participated in a gotong-royong at Al Khairiah  Mosque in Kampung Kepayang, here, recently.

It was part of the three-day carnival, "10th Anniversary Jom Heboh", organised by TV3.

Ipoh was the third location for the celebration, after Terengganu and Malacca.

The entertainers painted the perimeter wall, cleaned the graves, cut grass and disposed of rubbish.

Media Prima Berhad group general manager (stakeholder management) Zulkifli Mohd Salleh said the event was aimed at getting the celebrities to interact with villagers and help them keep their surroundings clean.

"We want the people to get up close with the artistes, instead of only viewing them on television," he added.

He said the gotong-royong cost about RM13,500.

The artistes included Teh Syuhada, Azzura Azman, Irin Putri Azmi, Maria Tunku Sabri, Aidid Marcello, Adam Shah, Zainal Ariffin Ismal, Dayana Roza and M. Zulkifli.

The village's children received goodies. A plaque was also placed at the mosque.

Also present were Ipoh councillor Datuk Shamsudin Ghafar, Ipoh City Council secretary Abdul Rahim Md Arif and village chief Mokhtar Mahmud.
