Charity high-tea in aid of breast cancer patients
IPOH: Pantai Hospital Ipoh (PHI) and Perak Pink Champion Society (PPCS) will be organising a "Pink October Charity Hi-Tea" on Oct 6.
The event will be held from 2.30pm to 5pm at the Tower Regency Hotel here.
Held in collaboration with Baiduri, Puspanita, Soroptimist International and Kelab Bakti Gunung Kledang, the high-tea will feature a fashion show performed by breast cancer survivors and a lucky draw.
Its organising chairperson Dr S. Sumithra said the event is aimed at raising funds for the society which helps breast cancer patients.
"Besides, we will also be educating the public on breast health and cancer, breast screening and prosthesis.
"We will also be assisting the underprivileged who have been diagnosed with the disease during the Breast Cancer Awareness Month that falls next month," she said.
Dr Sumithra added that the society would be opening its first resource centre, which serves as a home for breast cancer survivors to interact and undergo counselling at Pantai Hospital soon.
PPCS is an independent voluntary support group consisting of 60 breast cancer survivors who assist in providing breast cancer awareness and psychosocial support to the public by sharing experiences with other women.
Tickets for the high-tea are priced at RM50 per person.
