NO PLACE TO PLAY: For the past few years, industrial structures have been discarded at a field

IPOH: RESIDENTS living around Hala Rapat Baru near Kawasan Perindustrian Kecil in Gunung Rapat  are upset that a plot of land which was supposed to be a football field has been turned into an illegal dumping ground for industrial material.

The residents claimed that the small factories around the area had illegally dumped their industrial structure on the field.

The residents also claimed that the land was for recreational use and urged the factory owners to remove the building structures.

A resident, who wanted to be known as Chin, 48, claimed that factory workers began dumping the waste products a few years ago.

"We saw the workers placing these materials at the open field where our children usually play football. When we asked the workers to explain, they refused to comment. They were also rude," said Chin.

He said residents do not allow their children to go to the playground for safety reasons.

"Our children used to play here but not anymore as it is not safe."

Chin hoped that the Ipoh City Council and relevant authorities resolve the matter soon.

Residents also urge the council to take action against the factory owners and upgrade the field.
