GEORGE TOWN: A free cycling event along the scenic Bayan Baru coastal road, opposite Pulau Jerejak, to promote healthy lifestyle and environmental awareness will be held on Sept 15.

The 15 km event is being held in conjunction with World Environment Day and is expected to attract at least 1,500 participants. The non-competitive event starts at the compound next to Queensbay Mall, Bayan Baru, at 8am.

Participants will cycle along a designated loop on the beach in Queensbay for two rounds before finishing at the starting point.

The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP), State Department of Environment and State Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry are the organisers.

Participants can use ordinary, sports or mountain bicycles. They will receive a T-shirt each and must be at the starting point by 7 am with their bicycles.

For entry forms, call 04-575 1911 (Norasma), the state Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism, Penang Office (04-261618) and CAP office.

Completed forms must be handed to the organisers by Sept 3. By Phuah Ken Lin
