GEORGE TOWN: Being a responsible corporate citizen, the G Hotel here makes it a point to give back to society annually through some form of contribution or donation.

Recently, six charitable organisations were each presented with cheques of RM5,000 to help them in their good causes.

The six recipients were World Wide Fund for Nature-Malaysia, Relau Charis Home, Centre for Community and Environmental Development, Community Aids Service Penang, World Vision Malaysia and the Salvation Army Home.

At the presentation ceremony were G Hotel director Phuah Choon Meng, general manager Peter Nast and executive assistant manager Adam Haywood.

The G Care Programme, which started in 2010, sets aside RM1 from each hot beverage purchased by hotel guests for charity.

To encourage staff participation, all employees are also encouraged to make monthly donations to charity partners.

The programme was further widened to allow hotel guests to donate RM1 for each night's stay at the hotel.

At the cheque presentation ceremony, representatives from the charitable organisations gave a glimpse of their activities for the benefit of those present.
