IT was raining cats and dogs but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of a group of police personnel to show their skills on high-powered motorcycles during a skills course here recently.
About 20 police personnel graduated from the riding skills course to obtain a licence to ride the high powered bikes.
In his speech Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan, who presented certificates and licences, said: "Skills acquired during the course will help the policemen to ride through narrow roads and alleys to track down criminals and tackle other crimes.
"The crime index had gone down and this shows that the police force has done their job well."
Shukri said the assistance from members of the public has also helped reduce crime.
"We intend to continue our efforts this year to lower the crime rate in the state, including sending more officers to crime-prone areas and conducting joint crime-busting operations and campaigns with agencies such as the volunteer policemen, Rela and Civil Defence Department personnel, and the public."
