IPOH: Television viewers can expect another animation series entilted Perak Boy produced by Triple Q Innovation Sdn Bhd in a joint collaboration with KPerak Implementation and Coordination Corporation (KPerak) in November this year.

This is one of the six animated series developed by production companies located at Perak Techno-Trade Centre (PTTC) in Bandar Meru Raya to be screened on RTM television by next year. Meru Raya is the MSC Cybercentre.

Perak Education, Higher Education, ICT, Human Resources, Science and Technology exco Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid said: "The remaining series are in the production process and near completion, while some are waiting for air time from RTM."

"RTM is the most sought television station as its payments are attractive and the state government will discuss with RTM to allocate slot time for the series," he told reporters at PTTC recently.

"The series encompass education, history, science and adventure themes."

Present at the press conference were the six companies-- Triple Q, Maya Loca Sdn Bhd, Animagsi Sdn Bhd, EMC Instruments Sdn Bhd, Intergrated Commerce Sdn Bhd and Spacetoon Media Hub Sdn Bhd -- that are involved in the production of the series. They operate from the PTTC building.

Some 50 animators are working on producing the animated series.

Mohamad Zahir said RTM is also planning to introduce its digital TV next year when a dedicated cartoon and animation channel would be allocated.

"This is will give wider opportunities for these companies to produce series with local content to meet the demand of digital TV. We hope they will come out with a quality animated series."

The companies are given a soft loan of RM300,000, equipment and work space at PTTC to work on their productions.

Perak Boy has 26 episodes with each one lasting 23 minutes.

The series is based on a character named Ashraf who is born to parents staying in London. His father is a bio-genetic expert involved in a joint research project between Malaysia and London.

During the school holidays, they return to their village in Lenggong where Perak Man was located.

Ashraf is later transformed into Perak Boy whose mission is to safeguard nature.

It is a story with elements of science fiction, robotics, history and Perak culture.
