KUALA LUMPUR: Fashionistas celebrated the grand opening of Michael Kors' duplex store in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur recently.

Many were dressed to the nines and  sported carrying Kors' clutches.

Kors has outlets in his hometown of New York City, as well as in London and Hong Kong.

Kors, the Project Runway judge, tailors clothes to accentuate women's curves.

His fall collection is perfect for jet-setters and fans of glam fashion that comes in shades of plum, violet and mauve.

"I'm glad my store is in Bukit Bintang where all the fashion-conscious people are," said Kors, adding that Malaysia's cultural diversity was one of the reasons why he opened a store here.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur marketing director Kung Suan Ai said the outlet is the largest Michael Kors store in Southeast Asia.

At the Pavilion store, clutches, flap coin purses, totes, and wristlets in leather or animal prints can be found. Visitors were seen trying on Kors' chain bracelets, cuffs, and chronograph watches of acrylic, ceramic and leather  at the event.   The store is adorned with black and white photographs of Kors' muse.

Miss Malaysia 2011, Deborah Priya Henry, played host at the launch dressed in Kors' sequin-striped sheath dark camel dress.

Actress Maya Karin said  Kors' V-neck mauve dress was her favourite.

Upstairs at the duplex is the Michael by Michael Kors collection, and the designer's ready-to-wear merchandise.

Kors said his must-have travel items are a cashmere jacket, and  aviator sunglasses for holidays.

Besides an array of shoes, he also recommended  a flat pump to those  seeking comfort without fashion being compromised.

Items are priced between RM250  and RM13,000.
