IPOH: WITH Hari Raya just around the corner, many streets here have been abuzz with activity as crowds go about their last-minute shopping.
The festive spirit was especially felt at the major shopping centres, boutiques and arcades as people shopped for Hari Raya clothes, cookies and decorative items.
Especially busy was Jalan Tahwil Azhar, home to a wide range and abundant supply of festive products.
The whole stretch of Gerbang Malam was also a hive of activity as shoppers feasted their eyes on merchandise for sale, including household products, accessories and religious paraphernalia.
One hot-selling item was the Tudung Yuna, named after the popular singer.
Jamal Hashim, 35, a school teacher, was spotted at Gerbang Malam buying baju Melayu, sampin and songkok for his two sons.
"I come here to look for bargains. It is so convenient since I can find just about everything for my entire family," he said.
However, he lamented that the clothes seemed pricier this year and he had to be more careful with spending.
Another shopper, Nur Azlina Wahab, 20, a student from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, said she was getting a new baju kurung. She said she preferred going at shopping complexes where she would be spoilt for choice.
Tailors were enjoying brisk business as they rushed to complete orders for baju Melayu, songkok and baju kurung.
