Star City Hotel treat for elderly

ALOR STAR: Bedah Mat Nor is a very happy grandmother.

The 73-year-old and 49 other senior citizens were recently treated to a sumptuous spread of buka puasa food at Star City Hotel here.

"The udang masak lemak was very good. It really tasted like kampung cooking," said Bedah of the prawns cooked in spicy gravy.

The lavish treat, courtesy of Star City Hotel, was also a first for Bedah and most of her friends, who are "students" and residents at the Pondok Ahmadiah religious school in Kampung Padang Nyior, Padang Terap, near here.

Bedah and her friends later also received duit raya from Star City Hotel manager, Eugene Dass.

Dass said this year was the first time the hotel invited senior citizens for buka puasa.

"We are glad to include them and orphans as part of our corporate social responsibility programme," he said.

"We are also very pleased to see so many happy faces among our elderly guests."
