KAMPAR: ENGINEERING students Chuah Kim Chook, 23, and Ong Chu En, 24, were awarded the Infineon Awards by Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman's (UTAR) Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) at the campus here recently.

Chuah, who won the Best Electronic Engineering Student Award, took home RM3,000. She completed her Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electronic Engineering with first class honours in May.

Meanwhile, Ong's final-year project won the Best Electronic Engineering Final Year Project Award. He received RM2,000.

The ceremony was witnessed by Infineon Technologies (Kulim) Sdn Bhd head of department and director of technology Dr Diewald Wolfgang and its director of Department of Technology Tan Soon Keong.

Also present were Utar president Professor Datuk Dr Chuah Hean Teik, Utar (Research & Development Commercialization) Professor Dr Lee Sze Wei and FEGT dean Dr Yap Vooi Voon.

Wolfgang said this was the second time Infineon, a German semiconductor company, had presented awards to Utar students.

"Infineon has also partnered with FEGT to organise student plant visits, talks, recruitment, internship attachment and industry advisory," he said.
