KEDAH police chief Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim is not only the state's No. 1 crime-buster, he's also a good crooner.
He proved his mettle in singing when he mesmerised some 1,000 people with a number of evergreens at a police community event in Air Itam near here, recently.
The event, organised by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), was among the activities to endear the "men and women in blue" to members of the public.
Present was Kubang Pasu district police chief Supt Ibrahim Mohd Yusof.
The programme is also to create greater awareness on the police's many responsibilities to ensure law and order.
At the day-long event, the public were also given a better understanding of the police's several departments.
The activities included a demonstration by the K9 unit, an exhibition on the various drugs seized by police, and a sketch on crime prevention.
A crowd-puller was a show by some 200 superbikers who demonstrated what their mean machines could do.
A stage performance and a cultural show by primary and secondary school students were also major attractions at the event.
Veteran comedian Maidin had the audience in stitches in a variety show.
Meanwhile, Ahmad, in his speech, said PDRM was continually endeavouring to reach out to the community.
"We need to foster a closer relationship and create stronger bonding with the community.
"Cooperation and trust between us and the public have proven vital in our efforts to enforce law and order, and check crime increase," he said.
