The potholed road at Taman Angsana Hilir in Desa Pandan.

KUALA LUMPUR: Motorists are fed up with having to put up with poor road conditions at Taman Angsana Hilir in Desa Pandan.

Checks showed parts of Jalan Hilir 1 were uneven and not safe for road users, especially motorcyclists.

Shopkeepers along the stretch blamed the poor road conditions on low-quality repairs by contractors.

Shopkeeper Loh Chee Seng said some motorcyclists sustained injuries after hitting potholes on the road.

“The road is filled with potholes that it looks like the surface of the moon,” he said.

“Vehicles could be damaged and people could get hurt, as well.

“It is worse when it rains as puddles form on the road. It conceals the potholes, making it even more dangerous for road users.”

He said the contractors tasked with upgrading sewerage in the area did a poor job of patching the road.

A pedestrian, who wanted to be known only as Iskandar, urged the local council to resolve the problem before more people got hurt.

A spokesman for the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) said the council had instructed the sewerage contractor to repair the road.

“MPAJ has issued letters to SPK Sdn Bhd, the Sewerage Services Department and the Indah Water Consortium to repair the road.”
