Yuna the new face of fintech firm IOUpay

KUALA LUMPUR: A fintech and digital commerce company IOUpay has announced the signing of award-winning and international singer-songwriter Yuna as the face of myIOU.

myIOU is the new "buy now pay later" (BNPL) service by IOUpay that offers both retail and e-commerce merchants flexible payment options for their in-store and online consumers.

IOUpay said Yuna's engagement with myIOU was aimed at encouraging Malaysians to embrace BNPL as the new-age payment method, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It said with over a million followers on social media, Yuna had previously worked with brands including Malaysia Airlines.

"Through this partnership, Yuna will be representing the brand as an opinion leader of myIOU through campaigns and promotional activities across online and offline media platforms," it said.

IOUpay regional commercial officer Christopher Kok said Yuna was chosen not only for her capacity as an international icon, but also for her ability to connect consumers with businesses.

"As a key player in the BNPL industry in Malaysia, we are always on the lookout for partners who share the same vision as us.

"She is a perfect fit to join the myIOU family because her personal interest aligns with our business  goal to be one of the leading digital transaction processors in the booming cashless economies of Southeast Asia," said Kok.

Yuna said the partnership with IOUpay came at a perfect time as she was looking for more ways to support entrepreneurs during this trying time.

"To know that myIOU with its BNPL offerings can help both businesses and consumers to thrive during challenging times like this, I am proud to be a part of that. Together with IOUpay, I hope to educate as many people as possible on the ways to leverage on BNPL," said Yuna.

myIOU app, launched in June 2021, was designed to accommodate the ever-growing cashless market in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

With myIOU, consumers can get more out of their budget by splitting their purchase into two, three or six monthly payments at zero-interest.

Malaysians aged 18 years and above who have access to any local credit or debit card can sign-up with myIOU and receive instant credit approval of RM1,000 for purchases from IOUpay approved merchants.
