Digi's Q3 net profit eases to RM312.82mil, revenue at RM1.58bil

KUALA LUMPUR: Digi.Com Bhd's net profit fell 2.5 per cent to RM312.82 million in the third quarter (Q3) ended September 30 2021 from RM320.76 million a year earlier despite a rise in its revenue.

Group revenue rose slightly to RM1.584 billion from RM1.579 billion a year earlier, Digi said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

In the quarter under review, Digi said its service revenue of RM1.343 million returned to sequential growth of 0.2 per cent.

This was underpinned by improvements in postpaid and core prepaid revenues as total subscriber base strengthened to 10.37 million coupled with a resilient blended average revenue per use (ARPU).

The prepaid revenue saw a stable quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) performance, largely attributed to the growth in the Malaysian segment and continued data usage growth to RM645 million.

The company's postpaid revenue strengthened to RM633 million, up 1.6 per cent QoQ and 1.1 per cent year-on-year (YoY), the highest in five quarters, reflecting its strategic efforts to drive data monetisation as well as delivering sustainable subscriber and revenue mix.

As such, the internet and digital revenue mix strengthened to 77.5 per cent of service revenue.

During the quarter, Digi invested RM170 million capital expenditure in network capacity enhancements and digitalisation of operations, as part of its priority to deliver quality internet experience to its customers to meet rising data consumption.

For the nine-month period, Digi net profit fell 8.85 per cent to RM857.55 million from RM940.79, while its revenue rose 3.53 per cent to RM4.75 billion from RM4.59 billion last year.

Digi chief executive officer Albern Murty said the company continued to invest and deliver on its network experience to better serve its customers, while sustaining efforts to drive societal recovery.

"On this front, we are pleased to report that 100 per cent of our retail frontliners at Digi Stores are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, thus enabling us to serve customers safely while keeping our employees protected," said Murty.
