Gagasan Nadi to build Merdeka 118 mosque

KUALA LUMPUR: Gagasan Nadi Cergas Bhd has bagged a contract worth RM33.9 million to build a mosque at Merdeka 118, an iconic skyscraper now under construction here.

The construction company said its subsidiary Nadi Cergas Sdn Bhd had accepted the Letter of Award from PNB Ventures Sdn Bhd, the developer of Merdeka 118, for the construction of the mosque.

"The construction will commence on December 1, 2021 for 18 months, and is expected to complete on May 31, 2023," it said.

Group managing director Wan Azman Wan Kamal said Gagasan Nadi was proud to play its part in building an important amenity for one of the tallest towers in the world, a landmark development that will put Malaysia on the world map once completed.

"The contract win also highlights our reputation and track record in the industry, as we continue to make great strides recently in bagging contracts from numerous premier developers such as PNB Ventures," said Wan Azman.

Merdeka 118 tower consists of 118 storeys, with more than three million square feet of floor space made up of Grade-A office spaces and a retail mall.

Upon completion in 2022, the tower is expected to reach at least 644 metres in height, and is set to overtake Shanghai Tower (632 metres) as the second tallest building in the world.

With the mosque job, Gagasan Nadi's contract wins for the year totalled up to RM1.3 billion.

The company had an outstanding orderbook of RM2.5 billion as at November 17 this year.
