Honda Malaysia targets 50pct sales jump to 80,000 units in 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has targeted to sell 80,000 units this year, a 50 per cent increase from last year's sales.

The company is also positive in the year's outlook, forecasting a total industry volume (TIV) of 600,000 units for the year.

"We started 2022 on the back of the strong momentum gained from the launch of the City Hatchback in Dec 2021," said Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Madoka Chujo.

"This excellent start to the year continued with the launch of the benchmark-setting new Civic last month.

Chujo added that its newly-launched Honda Certified Used Car programme would aid in sales.

The company sold 53,031 units for 2021, capturing 10.4 per cent of the TIV.

The central region was the largest contributor with a total sales of 25,000 units sold, followed by the southern and northern regions with more than 9,800 and 9,100 units respectively.

The City, HR-V and CR-V were the best selling models contributing 36 per cent, 21 per cent and 14 per cent respectively to the total units sold.

Honda Malaysia reportedly retained its No.1 non-national passenger vehicle segment for the eighth consecutive year.
